Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh retires in 2019. Now in the new year, some more Indian players are on their way to retirement.
2019 has been a tremendous year for India’s cricket team. Except for the World Cup semi-final loss, the Indian cricket team has dominated throughout the year. India’s bowlers and batsmen dominate the ICC rankings. Currently, the Indian team is fielding new asthma players. Some players are on their way to retirement as the team looks ahead to the upcoming T20 World Cup. These include veterans. The players who are currently out of the Indian team have a tough time coming back and their international cricketing career is said to have come to a halt.
India’s all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has announced his retirement at the World Cup. At the same time, Ambati Rayudu had also announced his immediate retirement. This also created controversy. Lack of consistency in fitness and performance makes it difficult for players to stay in the team. Even now, form is important in the realm of instant cricket.
Asked which Indian cricketer will announce his retirement in the new year, the name of Dhoni is currently being discussed. Since Dhoni has not played a single cricket match since the World Cup, all cricketers have been paying attention to what he will do. Dhoni is now 38 years old. Earlier, he had suddenly announced his decision to quit captaincy and retire from the Test. So even now he can make such an unexpected shock. Dhoni had said that he would speak in January.
Apart from Dhoni, the name of one of India’s other greats is in the discussion. India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is not in the squad right now. Ashwin, who came to the Indian team in 2010, has a strong sense of responsibility for India’s spin bowling. Notably, he has also been India’s best bowler of the last decade. He played his last T20 match in 2017. He has not appeared in the T20 and ODI squad since then. Only Ashwin, who played the test, is likely to announce his retirement.
Suresh Raina is another player who is out of the Indian team. Raina, who made his debut in international cricket in 2005, is the first batsman to score a century in India. He was also on the 2011 World Cup squad. The chances of him getting a chance at the upcoming T20 World Cup are bleak. So Raina is on his way to retirement too.
Dinesh Karthik’s international cricket career, which includes an experienced player in place of Dhoni in the World Cup, has also started to wane. Dhoni was a wicketkeeper and he rarely got a place in the team. He also had to stay out of the squad due to injury. Presently, Rishabh Pant and the aging Saha have a responsibility for wicketkeeping. So he is also likely to retire.
